How to clean your accessories
A synthetic blend of polyester and polyurethane, Alcantara® mimics suede while being more durable. However, it can absorb oils, accumulate dust, and stain. Without proper care, it risks losing its unique texture. Using the right products and techniques is essential to prevent damage. This guide explains how to clean and maintain your Alcantara® case to keep it looking its best.
Microfiber cloth:
Gentle on Alcantara®, it removes surface dirt.
Mild soap or special Alcantara® cleaner:
Ideal for deep cleaning.
Soft bristle brush:
A toothbrush or a suede brush helps to remove ingrained dirt.
Distilled water:
Avoid mineral deposits that can stain the material.
Isopropyl alcohol (optional):
To disinfect without damaging Alcantara®.
1. Remove Dust and Dirt
Use a soft-bristled brush or a dry microfiber cloth to gently remove surface dirt with circular motions.
2. Clean the Stains
- Prepare a cleaning solution: Mix a little mild soap with distilled water.
- Dampen a cloth: Soak a microfiber cloth in the solution, then wring it out so that it is just damp.
- Dab the stain: Gently press on the stain without rubbing to avoid damaging the fibers. Work from the edge of the stain towards the center.
- Brush if necessary: For stubborn stains, use a soft-bristled brush in circular motions.
3. Clean the Entire Shell
Dampen a clean cloth with the same solution and wipe the entire case, paying particular attention to frequently touched areas such as the edges.
4. Dry thoroughly
- Dab off excess moisture with a dry cloth.
- Allow to air dry in a ventilated area, away from sunlight or direct heat sources.
5. Optional: Disinfect with Isopropyl Alcohol
To disinfect, dampen a cloth with 70% isopropyl alcohol and wipe gently. Allow to dry before use.
Regular cleaning :
Wipe with a dry cloth at least once a week.
Avoid harsh products :
Never use bleach, fabric softeners or abrasive cleaners.
Minimize contact with oils :
Wipe the shell regularly to prevent the accumulation of skin oils.
Alternate the shells :
If you have multiple cases, alternate them to limit wear and tear.
